how friendly and laid back is this forum compaired to guildwarsguru?

[:1]It seems Ive had bad experiences with the guild wars guru forums. the mods like to lock threads even if they seem have healthy discussion on builds.

is this forum a bit more laid back or newbie friendly?

just the way the other forum handles discussion kind of makes me want to find another forum to discuss things on.

also no offense meant.

I'm just a bit let down from my experiences at guild wars guru..

thanks and i hope i can find this forum as a good place for healthy discussion and experience.|||Quote:

Not lately.|||Newbie friendly: yes we are.

Laid back: Eh... depends on the subforum. Things like the word filter definitely are not though.|||I'm so laid back I only post twice a week.|||well the thing i was worried about, would be mods going lock happy on threads that seem to still have use or benefit. but if this forum is ran like wow inc gamers, and diablo inc gamers forum. then it should not be as strict as guildwarsguru.

i made a couple of threads on gwg forums about monk and necro builds. questions someone new or someone who has not played in a long time would ask. and they were locked without word or warning. very frustrating to have that type of communication barrier.

but it seems so far this forum is well better than most i have found so far.|||Quote:

|||The problem with Guru is that it's a very active forum where the posters tend to show less respect for one another than is the case here, and less respect for the forum rules in general. The mods at Guru have to be more heavy-handed just to keep up with the traffic.

However, I have never found the mods at Guru to be arbitrary or mean. If they are locking threads without explanation, I would guarantee that those threads are in violation of the forum rules, which are clearly posted in stickies. The rules specifically name the types of threads that they WILL lock without further explanation, and that should be all the word or warning that a poster needs. It's nice when a mod there takes the time to quote the specific rule that was broken when locking a thread, and I've seen them do it, but they just don't always have time to hold our hands.|||This board is very much better than Guru. And yes, the mods are much harsher there, but that is because most of the Guru population is 12-year-olds who spam their inane opinions without any self-restraint and without checking the rest of the thread for any sort of context to what they want to say. Oddly enough, though, that sort of behaviour is encouraged by many Guru mods, while having a normal discussion is not.|||I'd say have a read mindfray, the threads will speak for themselves.

Not saying that some toys don't get thrown out of the pram here every now and then, they do just like anywhere else, but it's no where near as heated as often.

-Art|||I find this forum to be quite friendly and relax. I have no experience with gwg so I can't honestly compare.
