New Player Questions

Hello, Im a new player to this game, just got the trilogy yesterday, and I have afew questions for the game.

I'm an ex-WoW player, and I there is alot of endgame material in it. I know Guildwars in heavy PvP focus, but I was wondering what, or if any, kind of endgame there is?

Also, I plan on making a Elementist, and was wondering what a good/fun second profession I should be? Also I was wondering the same for a warrior and ranger.

Thanks for any help :)|||Endgame in GW is different from in WoW. Once you played through the main campaign(s), you can do it again... In "Hard Mode", which means all enemies are beefed up to present enough challenge for a team of max-level characters. Also, if you want various kinds of wealth and nice-looking gear, there are several dungon- and raid-like areas such as the Fissure of Woe, the Underworld, Urgoz' Warren, and more. Also, if you own the Eye of the North expansion, that entire thing is meant as an add-on endgame campaign, as well as including a ton of new dungeons.

Endgame is more focused on getting nice things than getting useful things, though - the gear you can get in even the most difficult dungeon isn't any better than standard equipment, it just looks better (mostly). It's still great fun though.

As for secondary professions, the most useful ones for an elementalist seems to be mesmer, allowing you spells to manipulate your energy or casting spells more often, or monk, giving access to self- or party heal, as well as decent resurrection skills.

For warriors the best choices is basically either monk (for resurrection skill and condition removal - it's tempting to use monk self-heal, but resist that temptation, it's not worth it) or elementalist for certain spells that adds to your damage output, such as Conjure Flame. Or possibly dervish if you wish to use a scythe.

Rangers are in the same situation as warriors, except that they have one more great secondary for added damage: ritualist, which has the very useful spell Splinter Weapon.

Though I'd like to point out that the entire paragraph there is just my opinion, and there are certainly tons of more opportunities. One of the most fun things in GW is to make some quirky combination of skills that actually, somehow, works awesomely.

Anyway, welcome!|||Endgame is relative. In WoW, endgame refers to everything after level 80... In GW there`s really 3 types of PvE endgames.

1) Everything after level 20, which is where 70% of the game is... because GW is simply not made around the concept of levelling

2) Elite areas, and there`s quite a few of those, including dungeons.

3) Replay value via titles and hard mode. Hard mode essentially transforms the whole game into `endgame`-level content. Titles are GW-equivalents of achievements, but most titles act more as a checklist that guide you towards playing all content rather than getting you to do mundane random tasks.

So to answer your question, there`s plenty, but it does depend on what you consider valid endgame content.

Secondary profs... for Ranger I really enjoy Rit for spirits and weapon spells. Ele is also good for conjure. Necro for touch skills is more a niche build, so I would advise against it.

You can change your secondary profession about halfway through the game, so it`s not a permanent decision. Pick the secondary you enjoy more, and don`t worry about it. Generally, melee and caster profs don`t mix as well, but there`s plenty of exceptions.|||http://guildwars.incgamers.com/blog/...to_the_ranger/ This is my guide to Ranger, I'll get to ele and http://toastersgw.blogspot.com/2010/02/warriors.html is my guide to Warriors :D|||Thanks everyone for your input :) The hardmodes thing makes alot of sence on afew things I was wondering about :P Cant wait to get into that stuff :)
