So I bought GW today.

[:1]Hi, my name is Boxxy...lol jk, sooo I have a few questions. I bought GW today like 2 hrs ago with the sole intention to speed run the game so i could get as many points in HoM as i can. That being said, I have never played Gw in my life. I played wow for 4 years, am gladiator priest in s3,s4 and s5.

I was thinking of playing a Ritualist, because they look cool imo, spirit spammer build looks awe, wait for it, some, AWESOME. I would need some general pointers bear in mind that i have never played GW, and don't know anything about the game.

So can you guys help me out how to start, what to do and stuff like that. I would be really grateful. As long as I'm on my typing spree i need a buddy, like an in game buddy, any volunteers? :D

Thank you guys, I <3 all. /coolface|||This should help track your progress : http://tinyurl.com/6682jxn

Rits are pretty nice, You're going to want a resto build and another option to the spirit spamming for playing in groups.

Get max armor as soon as possible, it's 5 platinum +materials.

when you can go there, check Temple of Balthazar for daily mission...easy to get groups for some of the more difficult ones this way, if you happen to be in that area when it pops up.|||If your main focus is HoM, this may help:

This doesn't seem to make much sense. Given that the OP is not playing GW for the sake of playing GW but just to load up the HoM, he is very unlikely to need anything but Channeling headgear. If he ever ends up partying with other rits, Communing headgear may come in handy. Even among rits who have been playing GW for a long time, not many play resto, so there is no rush to get that set. And I would love to see what kind of build you think requires Spawning headgear.|||Quote:

Spirit's Strength physical builds (Scythe, Spear, et cetera) work best with 16 Spawning, I'd say. Other than that I have no real suggestions since ST rits usually run 14, 15 or 16 Communing and 13 or 14 Spawning, which means they use Communing headgear too...

@Eskrima, you can contact me via my IGN Frusti Rita if you want to. I won't be online much but when I am, I'll be happy to play with you. I'm at UTC+2 so we may not meet too often. I kinda sorta love Rits and I think I may have some advice for you whenever you need some. I also have a Monk at the start of Factions, who I would like to advance a bit with.|||I've never had a use for spawning, and I'd think spirit strength rits are not that common. But it might be a fun gameplay to try sometimes.

One title I like to advise is Survivor, but mind you, you will probably die many times while learning the game. Instead, I suggest you take the alternative route to survivor... turn in only the quests you need to progress the storyline, and keep all books and quests that you can to turn them in later, especially hard mode stuff (some normal mode books you need to turn in before you get too much faction). When you have enough books / finished quests to get your title, then turn everything in. This way, you won't have to worry about death, and you can still get the title relatively easy.

As a rit in PUGs, you want to be able to run a channeling build, a restoration build, or a communing build. You should practive spirit spamming and restoration when with H&H so you can run them in groups too.

Max armor is your first priority, then vitae. Don't worry about weapon, drops will do. Also, attribute point runes can wait.

My rule of thumb in a team is 1 healer per 4 party members. I like to bring a minion-mancer in most places. As a rit, you can take the role of healer or minion-mancer (Rt/N) if you want.

Keep an eye on zaishen tasks (see http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Daily_activities)... most of that stuff you won't be able to access until you get later in the game, but it's essentially free money if you can access it.|||Thank you guys for so many replays. So far I'm loving the community, you guys are really helpful and I learned so much in these past 24 hours. I've been playing a bit and now I'm lvl 8 Ritualist/Mesmer. Still didn't quite made it to mainland but I'll probably do that in a next hour or so.

I have a buddy that is helping me out, he's been playing this game for 5 years now and he's pretty good IMO. He is willing to run me through campaigns (Isn't that awesome) and he said he'll craft me an armor as soon as i come to mainland. But I'm always trying to find new friends who will be around so I can bore them with my silly questions :D. So 'OhFrustration' I'll add you mate.

Btw. this is the build I will be running (http://tinyurl.com/43gnwnt). Mostly because I believe it's fun, being able to solo stuff with your spirits is pretty bad ***.

So my plan for now is to finish Faction campaign on NM, I assume I'll be level 20 by now then I'm going to buy EotN. Any suggestion?

@Alaris - can you elaborate a little more about that Survivor title, I'm not sure if I got everything you said. I'm not sure about those books you mention. I don't have any. :S|||Survivor is getting 1337.5k experience without dying. If you die, it resets. Once you max the title though, you can't lose it.

Here's the info on storybooks

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Storybook|||So once I get to Kaineng Center, first thing I should do is to buy that book ('Shiro's Return')?

And then just continue with questing, collecting those books and then just turn them all at once?
