Hi, I'm new.

[:1]Hi, I've been reading this forum for a while now and I think I got the general idea how the game works. I have a few questions though. I apologize if they were answered in some of the older threads. In that case just point me to a link. Ty.

My main goal is to get 30 points in Hall of Monuments. I've never played Guild Wars before but I have some MMO experience. If/After I get those 30 points, I'm thinking of going for 50 points.

So the questions are following:

1. - I've created a fresh Assassin. I'm interested in some Assassin builds a link to a GW wiki would be nice. Also what 2ndary profession should I take?

2. - How, where, and which armor should I craft as soon as I get to mainland?

3. - As I am hunting for that Survivor title, should I go for all the 2ndary quests too (on the 'noob island'), I'm familiar with books and the general idea behind Survivor. Actually what I'm trying to say is should I do all the side quest I run in to through the game?

4. - I'm obv. starting in 'Factions', what should I do when I get to mainland. Should I go to 'Nightfall' and grab some heroes. Generally what campaign should I do first?

That is all for now, as I get more questions I'll post them here. One other thing is that I have 2 months without any obligations so gameplay wise I should have time on my hands.|||1. If in doubt, go /Mo or /Rt or /P for the hard resurrect.

http://www.gwpvx.com/PvX_wiki

Moebius Strike + Death Blossom is one of the alltime favourites for assassins, I believe.

2. Any armor that can be crafted in Kaineng or in the adjacent explorable (near the docks is a crafter with an (ugly) "exotic" set.). You want to have AR 70 on every piece, style and appearance of the armor of your choice is a matter of taste (or lack thereof).

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Assassin_armor

You've (in Kaineng) the choice between Seitung, Shing Jea, Canthan, Exotic and Imperial.

3. By all means, do these 2ndary profession quests. Doing these unlocks some more skills, and that will be useful as soon as you have some heroes who are in desperate need for better skill bars.

Side quests I personally do, but that's because I am obsessive about doing them all.

For the survivor title, elite capping, books and dwarven boxing are more important than the side quests.

4. Hit Kamadan and get Koss, Melonni, Dunkoro, Tahlkora, Jin or Sousuke. Then get Olias in Tyria. Then hit EotN for Ogden, Vekk and wander 20 steps north of there to get Gwen. Then do whatever you please.|||Ahh, the assassin. Not an easy one to get survivor with, unless you're going to book it the entire way. Otherwise, you'll have to be very careful; I would recommend doing most of Factions last, if only because it is so easy to die during most of the missions. Get past Nahpui Quarter if you can (after that you can change your secondary prof), then go to one of the other continents instead.

I would recommend doing most of the secondary quests; just check the wiki before you take any on to make sure you're not getting in over your head. There are a lot of fairly easy quests once you get to the mainland.

Which secondary you pick will depend mostly on what sort of build you want to run. As for skills, Moebius Strike and Way of the Master are some of the more useful elites. I would recommend running around on Istan a bit to get critical agility, the assassin sunspear skill. My current build consists of: way of perfection, critical eye, golden fox strike, golden fang strike, death blossom, way of the assassin, critical agility, and one optional (often eternal aura, the dervish sunspear skill).

For armor, if you don't care about looks, craft whichever set you have the most materials for. Though, for non-prestige armor, you don't have to get one complete set; there are no bonuses to having a full set, so feel free to mix and match if that's your preference (for prestige armor though, you'll need full sets except for headgear in order to put them in the HoM).|||My new plan on survivor is to do all quests (provided they are no real threats) and keep them. Same with books. So if you die, you can keep amassing those anyway and spike-return them when you have enough. Much safer than if you cash them in as you go.

Quests outside prophecies are a decent source of XP.|||The only skill you are going to use is your primary being Sin as mentioned by Lytha go for Rit for flesh of my flesh some choose Ranger for Troll ungent.Critical Strikes is important so don't miss out on that.|||I'm on mainland now, just came. Grabbed the storybook and I was about to create my 'Seitung Armor' when I realized that I don't have the required mats.

So where can I buy cheap 'Tanned hide squares'(85) and 'Steel Ingots'(29)?

Someone from guild mentioned that I should go to Kamadan(US). But I'm not too familiar with the trade system in this game. Can someone elaborate on that? Ty.

Meanwhile, I'm level 17 Assassin/Monk. I took Lythas advice on builds.

So I found this 'Moebius Sin' build on PvX wiki.

Update on survivor: I died quiet a few times mostly because lack of armor. One shoted when doing mission even though I played 'with caution' (Dashing in and out of combat). So I decided to turn all the side quests on starting island, and start my side quest farming once I reach mainland. (That being now)

In future I'll be posting my progress here and as always let me know what you guys think. Any comments/critiques are welcome.|||It is best to come up with your own builds don't use pvx as it outdated and you can't us asusa scan.It is very hard to get Survivor on a Sin a little tip though don't ever use Warriors only Rangers and be the only Sin in your party. This will let the Monk or Rits to keep you healed up and buffed.

You are going to have to farm for those mats or gold to trade.you want to use the trade window by pressing P and in space type WTB XXX and YYY.WTB means Want to Buy.There is a trade forum here maybe someone can provide you the mats.

This will help you as well.

don't use pvx as it outdated

This is not outdated: http://www.gwpvx.com/PvX_wiki

When the Wikia forced changes to the interface, PvXwiki was moved to the servers of Curse.net. GWPvX.com works and is updated with the latest dervish builds and PvE skill changes, etc, etc, and as such it is a viable tool for a newcomer to find proper builds and to try and understand the basics of GW builds. [/rant]

For example, this build could work for you: http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:A/any_PvE_Dagger_Spammer

And as Age said, the trade system of Guild Wars is mainly constructed between players. Go to Kamadan, the Jewel of Istan in Nightfall, press P to see your party search panel, open your chat and type "WTB xxx/yyy". Same goes for selling, see if there's someone buying the stuff you want to sell and then start shouting "WTS xxx/yyy". Remember to use the Trade channel in the chat, though.

Also, you won't need to farm anything to get non-elite armour. You can basically play through some side quests, get some money and kill some monsters for salvage items. When you have the 70 AL armor, you can play with a bit less caution.

Little tip: When starting a battle, send your heroes or henchmen in first and run in after them. Even though the enemy AI will certainly attack you shortly, you have a slight chance of your friendlies weakening the foe enough so that it doesn't have time to cast a powerful spell on you.|||For the small amounts of materials that you need, you are better off salvaging drops from foes and/or dealing with the NPC material traders. Most player-to-player trades in materials involve stacks of mats or very expensive mats used in crafting consumables, HoM weapons, and elite armors. There aren't many players selling small quantities of cheap mats like cloth, tanned hide, and steel.

Yeti's can drop tanned hide directly or drop armor bits that salvage into tanned hide, so you might consider going back to Shing Jea and solo killing some in Jaya Bluffs.

Metal weapons in loot drops have a chance to produce steel ingots if you salvage them with an Expert or Superior salvage kit. Or, you can salvage for common materials, such as iron ingots, sell them to the NPC common materials trader, and use the cash to buy steel from the NPC rare mats trader.|||Quote:

Troll Unguent is very inferior to many sin survival skills. And roughly 1 out of 3 sin skills is a survival skill. One of my favorites is Shroud of Distress. Flashing Blades is outstanding in some situations. Blinding Powder is nice as well.

When putting together a build remember the recharge times of your attack skills. Attack chains are useless if they are grayed out recharging.
