Returning after many years.

[:1]Hello all! So like many people I'm excited about GW2 coming out in a year so I thought I'd work on some of the titles and things that I can earn from my guild wars account (not to sure how this works, but I have a rough idea)

So I used to play Guild Wars quite a bit when it came out, but then I stopped for WoW and other things. So I'm installing my old guild wars game as I type this, and I'm just curious if someone could point out some links or helpfull posts for someone who has been gone five+ years lol.

Hope to hear from you all!|||That is a bit too broadly asked.

When you are logged into the game, you can check out the official guild wars wiki by typing "/wiki titles" (for instance when you want to learn more about these titles). You can also reach the wiki from ingame by pressing f10; then it gives you a list of links to your current quests and some more stuff.|||Here are some wonderful suggestions for working towards your Hall of Monument points, provided by Rubi Bayer of Massively.

The Road to 50 - A Guide to Filling Your Guild Wars Hall of Monument - V|||If your main goal is GW2, I'd look up "hom" and "gwamm" on wiki.guildwars.com. GWAMM is more elite, but working on that will give you stuff to put in your HoM. However, if you think the 1200-1500 hours of gameplay that GWAMM demands is too much, then it's not a big loss. Getting 30 out of 50 points in the HoM will get you all the items, and this is a far more easy-to-achieve goal.

A few hints for the HoM:

1) you get free miniatures each birthday for each character, so make sure all your char slots are used and don't delete characters unless you need to

2) the survivor title is best gained on the first try when you get all those 1st-time XP rewards, it gets grindy after... I suggest not turning in books or quests until you get enough XP to max it

3) destroyer weapons are cheaper, and the oppressor's weapons are probably the easier ones to get via gameplay

4) some pets can be added to the HoM... also, getting some hero armor is not too hard

5) other easy titles: protector, skill hunter, and reputation titles (not Kurzick/Luxon)

I also wrote a few tips on the blogs (check the front page).

Start with this, then feel free to ask more questions...|||Thanks for the tips guys. I realize that my original question was pretty broad ;)

I enjoyed Guild Wars when I first was playing it, but with GW2 on the horizon I am mostly just looking to set up my account for HoN.

Thanks for the links and what not.|||actually one golden rule.

Don't suck at the game and don't purchase expensive armor or weapons for eye candy invest in builds and you will see your fortune skyrocket which you can use to fill your HoM.

It's a common fact that eye candy in game prostitutes your coinpurse and leaves you empty handed :) !|||Quote:

Uhm, but if you want to fill your HoM, you actually need 7 sets of eye candy armor, and one of them must be the extra ugly FoW set.|||I wouldn't worry over destroyer weapons and I like some candy.|||Quote:

And you'll need some "eye-candy" armor for your heroes too! Although concentrating on your builds which help in accomplishing missions, quests, etc. quickly will also assist with your HoM.

I had a head start because I had a good number of characters and kept all my mini-pets I'd received as birthday gifts. But it's been a good number of months now and I'm still a few points shy of getting 30 points. Something tells me it'll be a long slog to get the other 20 after that.|||Yes, you need Hero armors, too. But unless you are really keen on having them all wear the armor from DoA and Slavers' Exile, you can get their armor upgrades by yourself. I know that I did.

FoW armor for yourself though... wow, that's expensive. Or utterly frustrating and grind-tastic.
