New to the game weeee! Oh wait a second... >.<

[:1]The above so far has summarized the my first few hours mucking about the game.

This being that yesterday, I decided on some whim to pick up the guild wars trilogy pack to see what it was about given that it did seem kind of interesting from what I'd read. So as a result I made and deleted a few different characters before settling on one. (I've made/delete an Elementalist, Necro, Assassin, and a Ritualist and so far have kept the last two).

This being the case, I am curious though. Is it best to go back and start a character in Guild Wars: Prophecies? Or will I eventually be able to play through it on any of my other characters?

And as far as the community goes.. does anyone know what time zones, or areas are best to frequent where one may talk to people, or even ask a question or two?

Because so far most of my attempts at any sort of interaction have been outright ignored, whilst people continue to spam fire works (which are pretty by the way!), run around turned into bunnies (I managed to find out that there is a drink that does that), or just stand around dancing whilst telling others to shove off. All in all not fun (or useful) at all.

Also as far as secondary professions go, if one where to start playing in the "factions" expansion, is there any way to try out the secondary professions before picking one? I read in the newbie section that it is possible to do so in the "pre-searing" bit for Ascalon but know of nowhere else that this may be possible. If not, what would a good secondary profession be for a ritualist, and assassin respectively?

Also yes, I did attempt to search before asking this! But, it seems that I didn't enter that magical combination of terms so as a result I got nothing useful. Furthermore the links posted in this thread all seem to be broken :/ http://guildwars.incgamers.com/forum...d.php?t=483424

Well thank you for everything!|||Quote:

You can do all campaigns with all characters, no matter their birth area.

However, there are a few areas that are only available for characters created in that campaign, the most important one is "pre-searing". It's the starter area in Prophecies and only prophecies characters can get there and once you leave, you can't return.

The US territories I think are most populated during US day hours, the European during the European day hours. Naturally, there is some mixing going on. You can switch whenever you want.

Well, there are some highly annoying people around (asking a question over and over and over again, while that question has been answered several times, for instance) so that some people turn off the "all-chat". Sad, but true. I notice that the most often in the US districts though.

Actually, in Factions, there is at least one quest for each secundary profession. You get some extra second-profession skills to try out. But don't expect a lot from it. Luckily, after you reach a certain point in the game (and that point in Factions is fairly quick, you can change your secundary whenever you want to.

Don't worry about that! When people ask nice, they'll most often get a nice answer

And those links are broken because the forum has been moved since 2008... And as this is a somewhat dynamic game (some things do change!), I'm not sure how actual these guides are |||It is good idea to read up on all the professions and decide then and don't bother to ask stuff like this in game. This game was thrown at me as I was in veta testing time and there wasn't much info on the profession and builds.

when it comes to choose secondary it doesn't matter to much most go /Mo for the hard res/Mes for e-manag./E for the same thing or conjures.

It is best to read this Professions|||Quote:

Well, Ritualist and Assassin start in Factions, which means that you are experiencing Shing Jea Monastery as the first central town. Shing Jea Monastery is... special. That's because it attracts the more ... special people for some reason. Those that run around as bunnies and that dance naked in the town square, while telling newbies to bugger off.

I would say that the Embark Beach is a better place to find people to talk to, the american server usually has more people in the outpost than the european english server.

However, to get there, you need to proceed along the primary quests until you are ready to face Minister Cho's Estate - the first mission of Factions. Given the 2nd part that I quoted above, I think you're still a few quests away from that.

Now for the 2nd part of your questions. Yes, you can try out the different secondary professions in Factions before you decide which one you want to take. However, the experience is limited to two silly/ridiculous quests. One of the /Ranger quest, for instance, involves rescuing bunnies... which is really not what the gameplay as a ranger is like.

However, Prophecies is also not the shining beacon of game design in that regard, as it offers similarly ridiculous quests.

The best way to experience different choices would be to just select a random one, and once you can (after Nahpui Quarter, if you stick to Factions), switch to the others and try them out. /Monk is almost always a solid choice, because it offers a reusable resurrection skill.

I'd focus more on my primary profession than on the secondary, anyway.
