Looking for someone to show me the ropes!

[:1]Hi, I'm brand new to the game and would like someone or a guild to help me figure out how to play and build my character. I plan to play a supportive monk or elementalist since monks aren't in guild wars 2. I want the transition to be easy. Anyway, I am up for someone with a chat channel or Skype preferably to talk and teach me what to do! I am a girl and was originally going to play gw with a friend but they bailed on me. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks! :)|||Are you interested in mostly PvE (story and coop) or PvP (competative player vs player)? This is important in picking a Guild as there are a wide range of critera for acceptance.

Where are you currently at in the game, what expansions do you have available now and how much have you actually played as a support character in other MMOs? Personally, I HATE playing support characters, but rest assured you will be the bell of the ball if you are half way decent at it...|||I don't like pvp!!! I am more into helping large parties with heals. I have all the expansions but started in prophecies. I don't know where I am in game; I have been exploring as a level 2 monk and dying a lot. Pathetic! I have played ragnarok online for a year and a half and was pretty pro at being a priest. I love the feeling of being needed and I don't mind it when people yell at me. For the most part, if people did what I said then nobody died. I actually did most of the scolding!!!|||Quote:

Is the area you're in pretty and green? If so, you're still in the tutorial area. That area is pretty extensive, so feel free to explore a bit. Unfortunately, it's not a great area to practice prot/heal unless you have someone you can team up with.

You can always ask questions on this forum if you have anything specific. If you want to join a guild, this site hosts a number of them. They are listed at the bottom of the main forum page. Of course, there is also the guild recruitment forum that you can check out.

Good luck, and welcome to Guild Wars.

Since you said you want to do some protective heals since there are no monks in GW2, I think the best thing would be a command/motivation paragon (those are available in Nightfall). They buff their teammates, but it's more a support class than a direct healer, comparable to the Guardian in Guild Wars 2.|||When it comes to playing Monk there some good guides in the Monk forum. What others have done is mostly learn it on their own as one other style my not be suitable for you.It is some what of learn at your own pace and in 4 man party it is best that you are the only Monk. When it comes to parting up these day most just use their heros unless it is an elite area.sorry I couldn't be of any more help but that is how most of us learned.

Do a search for guides in the Monk forum and read up on them gwwiki.|||If you are still in Pre-Searing Ascalon (training area for Pophecies), then you either need to find someone with a perma-pre character (plans to never leave Pre-Searing) or someone to start a new character and help you along. Leaving that area is a one way deal (you can never take that character back).
