Texmod and the recent account termination warning

I've decided to start using Texmod again. I've used it only about 2-3 times in the past then stopped. Reason of me returning to use it was because I would really like to progress more into my Cartography Title. Anyways, I'm not sure now with the bot bans how risky it would be to start using Texmod again.

Can we have an official response about this?|||Quote:

We've had it. Many times. Take a look at the Texmod wiki page, where some of the official responses are posted.|||I've been using texmod for cartography and I didn't get banned, so I guess you're in the clear.|||Regina (I think it was her) said that texmod was fine, but they offer no support if something goes wrong. This was said after the recent round of bannings.|||It's not as if texmod runs the game for you. All it's doing is changing what you see, not what you do.

The only time the use of texmod resulted in a ban was when people used it to hack the client and find a way to access the malyxx mission while avoiding doing the required city clears beforehand.

This allowed people to mass farm the demon monkeys and start gaining the literal stacks of armbraces.

That was a nono, and several accounts got banned for it.

And it was obvious who was doing it because they didn't do it just one or two times, but many many times.

So if you can use it to allow you to do something you couldn't do otherwise, then yes, you'll get nailed. For hugging the walls... don't worry about it.|||And it isn't as if they only banned people who had bots that were automated to do complete runs for you either.

GWCA could do a simple thing such as give your birdseye view of any place in the game, yet you'd be banned if you tried that too since that also requires an injection of the .dll file.

It's a moot point noa.|||Quote:

...

TexMod was not used for that purpose, nor is it even remotely possible for that program to do anything like that.|||Ignorance is Bliss, Noa.

Texmod alters textures in the game. Nothing else. Instead of having a rocky texture on a hill, you can replace it with a pink banana texture or whatever. I could take the face texture of your favourite character and make it look like Obama, but only I would be able to see it.

And it's safe to use, I've been using it all the time to mod my interface and skill icons, and never had any issues (other than minor texture glitches).
