Runes and insignias for elementalist

Hi all. I have just started playing Guild Wars (Prophecies) and my character is an Elementalist/Mesmer. This is very fun game except for when I have to decide what armor to get and what runes & insignias and what weapons to use. I just want to go out and kill stuff you know? But I find myself dying more than killing right now.

I've tried to read the wiki thing but it's so much information and so confusing. Can someone give me a list of which one to put where?

Here's what I have:

Fire Magic: 11

Energy Storage: 11

With 1 unused point

My armor is all 51.

I'm using a fire wand (Fire damage 11-22)

halves skill recharge of fire magic spells 20%

Flame Artifact: Energy +12

Armor +5

health -20

Thanks!!|||For my fire ele ( slight difference for earth and air ):

Head: Radiant + Minor Fire

Arms :Radiant + Minor Energy Storage Rune

Chest:Radiant + Superior Vigor ( started from major vigor until I got a superior vigor drop )

Legs: Radiant + Attunement

Shoes:Radiant + Attunement

For attributes after runes, Fire 14

Energy 13

For equipment, a +60 hp and +15 energy fire staff. So total health about 600+ and 90+ energy.

Your armor is only 51 ( max is 60 ) so I assume you are somewhere in the desert and still need to get the 2 15-attributes-point quests?|||I usually have a Survivor set on my elementalist, because I just don't find myself running out of energy too often, and it provides general survivability as opposed to specific +armor. If I were running two elements or have Master of Magic, then I swap for Prismatic.

I'd personally swap the focus item out for some other focus. It seems to be missing a mod (wand too), first of all, and if you wanted +5 armor, +5 armor while enchanted is better because as an elementalist you are mostly enchanted.|||this is in the wrong forum...if i could move it for you i would.

To join the misplaced discussion I will add what my ele uses.

headpiece of every element with a minor or superior rune of that particular element (depending on how i feel)

chest with a major vigor rune. (superior is wasted money unless you think 9 more hp will really help that much)

arms with a minor energy storage

legs with vitae and feet with vitae.

I usually put survivors insignias on all pieces but radiant works too if you want the extra energy (you dont need it).|||Blessed (+10 while enchanted, i.e. all the time) is not a bad option as well. You generally want to PvE with ~550+ health. With good health, the rest is not so important.

You dying a lot recently probably has to do with the desert, assuming that's where you are? It's the first time the game gets challenging and team/your builds become much more important. Check out this thread if you're having trouble there.

Yes. I just did Dunes of Despair. Wow 600+ and 90+! That sounds really good right now.

How do i know if I'm enchanted? Where is the best place to find weapons you're talking about?

Apologies for being in the wrong forum. I'm a newcomer with a question so I really thought this was the right place.

Thanks for the specifics. That helps a whole lot.

Ha Ha! It sounds like other newcomers have the same problems here. I'm not having the energy problems like her though so maybe I'll have a better time of it.|||Quote:

The fastest way to tell if you are enchanted would be to see if any of the skills in your skill monitor have upward yellow arrow. Also, if you are enchanted, you have a thin smokey white ring around your body. As an elementalist, you most likely have one type of elemental attunement, as well as Aura of Restoration possibly.

As for where to get weapons: since you are already in the desert area, you have the access to the max weapons that collectors can offer.

Since the Prophecies collectors seems to only give out wands that's missing a mod, you are set for the wand if you are going to be using it. Sir Pohl Sanbert in the Arid Sea will give you a fire focus that gives boost to both recharge and cast times of fire spells, in exchange for 5 Dune Burrower Jaws. Or, you can find yourself a decent staff head and wrapping, and slap them on a fire staff that you can exchange with Karl Jakobs in Vulture Drifts for Massive Jawbones.

If you have access to other campaigns, your choices will widen by a lot, since there will be different mods available on the weapons. Additionally, if you own Nightfall or Eye of the North, you will have access to what's called inscription and inscriptable weapons, which will let you customize your weapons more (with things like +armor when enchanted on foci). If you don't have either of the campaign/expansion, you can still opt for trading with other players.
