Pet XP question

Since they do not gain experience from quests I'd say they don't gain from elite caps either. Maybe you should try out with a low-level pet and cap a skill during the weekend?|||Hm...actually, I was thinking exactly the opposite as when you gain XP from an Elite Cap, it shows up just like a kill XP awared (pops up as green text above your head). I'll certainly try it, just wanted to find out if anyone here knew for sure or not.|||Pets gain XP only directly from kills, at double the rate that would be calculated for a player of the same level. They do not gain XP from any other source than kills, such as quest rewards, mission rewards, or elite captures.

Pet XP is calculated according to the formula for Experience from Killing Opponents and then doubled. In this formula, use the level of the pet as "y", rather than your level. Do not apply any multipliers (HM bonus, boss bonus, shrine bounties, or scrolls) to the result, as none of these apply to pets.

This statement is dead wrong. Pet XP is divided by the number of party members, including heroes and henchies, regardless of how many pets are allied with the party. If you, your pet, and a hero go out to kill Snow Wurms outside of Boreal, your pet's XP is divided by two, whether or not the hero also has a pet.|||Meh, I knew they didn't get XP from rewards, but thought since Cap XP appeared similar to kill XP ... just maybe.... oh well.|||All XP looks similar to kill XP. Even when you get the mission or bonus reward there are little green numbers over your head. One usually doesn't notice, but they are there.|||Just realized that when playing last night. I never paid attention to it before. My bad.|||Topic is kind-of old but, could always deathlevel your pets. Worked well for me, personally.
