Iding plain white items question

Is it better to id plain white items before selling or just sell them unid?

thanks|||In Level 20 areas, yes, it is worthwhile IDing whites before selling. In lower areas, usually not.|||Eye of the north seems to be somewhat of the exception for me when ID'ing drops of enemies in level 20+ areas in NM, at least in the first few areas. They never seem to go up enough in selling value to make up for the kit.|||thanks for the replies. how much gold should it be about per white item? 25? 40?|||As far as I can tell it's pretty random how much the IDed whites go for. You only need the items to increase in value by 4 gold each in order to make up for the cost of the ID kit assuming you're using regular ID kits.|||Quote:

Yeah, it helps a good deal to ID all found in the 20+ areas as stated, even with the superior kits you will net a profit by doing so.|||ok, thanks all. It seems a hassle to id plain white items since they take up space too. I'm just used to iding yellow and gold colored items in d2|||Quote:

They take up space regardless of whether you id them or not. Or do you mean that you don't even pick them up? You should! Selling white items is a larger source of gold than you'd think.|||Quote:

Exactly. If you pick em all up and ID them, it starts to add up pretty quick.|||Maybe he keeps his ID and salv kits in his storage instead of character inventory? Which is just crazy if you ask me. ;)

You should pick up everything though. Remember the gold you pick up is shared by the party, but you get all of the gold from the items you sell to the merchant. So if you pick up 100gp drop you get about 13gp in a party of 8, but if you pick up a white solemn spear, you'll get all of the 50gp or so it's worth, and more if you id it.
