Gwen and the Tapestry Shred

I made a new Mesmer in Prophesies so that I could go through the story again (forgot most of it), and to see how much fun playing a Mesmer is now. Though that isn't important.

What I'm having problems with is this; getting the Tapestry Shard from Gwen. I made my Mesmer, and am now pretty much done with Pre-Searing. Since I wanted to get one so as to do the GW:EN quest that requires it, I decided not to take my little Mesmer out of Pre just yet. I had already gotten her the flute, and had just bought her the cape at the merchant in Ascalon, when I realized something was wrong. Gwen wouldn't take it. In fact, she had a cape on her. At first I was confused, then I went to wiki to see if I had done something unintentionally (thinking that maybe after giving her so many flowers, she would just get the cape automatically). I read Gwen's Pre-Searing profile, and followed the link showing the instructions on how the get the Tapestry Shred from the little girl. I was shocked to see that if you entered Lakeside County accompanied by someone who had already given Gwen the flute and cape, Gwen would have them equipped for you as well, and that it would be much more difficult to get the shard from her. Now then, I had done the Adventure with an Ally quest, and had gotten help from a level 8 player. Was it possible that this player had already given Gwen these items, possibly ruining my chances of getting the shard? Did this stranger's act of kindness really just ruin my chances of getting the shred quickly, if not never? Please, if its still possible to get the Tapestry Shred from Gwen quickly, if at all, then please tell me. I'd really appreciate it!!|||I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you're stuck. I don't believe it is possible for you to get the shred at this point.

However, all is not lost. Look me up when you leave Pre (IGN: Brett Okh Uru) and I can fix you up with a shred. I've done the same, but I think the flower trick only works if you aren't screwed by partying with someone who has already given her the goodies. I always make sure to get the shred before partying with anyone.|||Swear to god, looked at the title, and thought it was someone's fanfiction.|||Ahh, so that's why I couldn't get it with some characters!
