Ferry to LA

I have a bit of question for all of you experienced farriers out there.

I'm trying to do some ferrying myself from the Consulate docks to LA, but I can't find out how to do it. I'm playing a level 20 warrior Monk from Tyria and I have the Consulate docks mission area unlocked. Do I need to complete the mission in order to beging ferrying? Do I need to talk to a certain NPC or complete a certain quest? Help?|||Quote:

You need a toon from NF.|||To ferry from Kamadan to Consulate Docks, you can use a character from any campaign when they have the quest The Time is Nigh active.

On an Elonian character, once you accept this quest reward you can get the two quests to go to the other campaigns -- Terror in Tyria and Plague in Cantha.

So not only do you need an Elonian character, but they'll have to have done almost all of the quests and missions on Istan (having that Elonian character ferried to Consulate Docks isn't enough).|||No, I'm trying to ferry people to Lion's Arch, not to the docks. I do have a derv who has "the time is nigh" activated, but ferrying people to the docks is not my goal. Getting them from the docks to LA is my goal.|||Right, but you'll still need an Elonian character. And that character will still have to have done most of the quests and missions on Istan.

I'm also pointing out that the quests for ferrying cannot be taken at the same time -- the quests to ferry to Lion's Arch/Kaineng Center cannot be taken until you accept the reward for the Time is Nigh quest.|||Why would anyone at the Consulate Docks need a ferry to LA? Either they can take the quest themselves and get there, or there is really no reason to go there. You are trying to make money where there is no service needed. Short of people being ferried TO the Docks, nobody needs this service. They can't even unlock the Olias quest until they complete "the time is Nigh", so that isn't a reason to go to LA either.

I guess they could just WANT to go to Tyria...*shrug*. Maybe Survivors wanting to get to the Desert for Ascension...can Elonian characters Ascend in the Desert? (I mean get the huge XP reward for defeating Dopple).|||Quote:

Or maybe they want a particular armor style?

And yes, any PVE character can Ascend in the Desert. You only get the 50k bonus if you haven't done Nahpui and (I think) Hunted in NF first.|||Quote:

Then I could see a ferry to Kaineng City, but LA isn't going to get you MAX armor anytime soon (unless you are going to pay for a run to Beacon's then Drok's....I guess you could). Seems like a bit of trouble to get MAX armor when you can already have had it at the Docks anyway.|||Quote:

No, as soon as you get to the Consulate Docks (whether via ferry or normal quests), you can get Gain Olias and Chasing Zenmai.

As BladeDVD noted, you get the 50000 experience if you haven't done Nahpui Quarter or the Hunted! quest in Nightfall (the latter for Elonian characters only).

But progressing through the Nightfall storyline normally doesn't prevent this -- if you follow the story, you do the Time is Nigh quest, then can go to Lion's Arch/Kaineng Center even before doing the Consulate Docks mission.

For my own part, I've taken new Nightfall characters to the Docks and then Lion's Arch and Kaineng Center to get very quick leveling up. Canthan quests make for a very fast rise to level 5, where you can then go back to grab Dunkoro. Then continue with whatever it is you want to do.|||My experience has been that any character (Elonian or otherwise) that has the primary quest "The Time is Nigh" will be able to ferry ppl to the Docks.

However, once there, the ferrying character will not be able to continue ferrying ppl to Kaineng Center or Lion's Arch without first completing "The Time is Nigh" and then taking on the two ferrying quests that take them to other continents. But by completing "The Time is Nigh," it means that same character will not be able to repeat the process.

The only way I can think of to do this repeatedly is to have two characters, one having "The Time is Nigh" to ferry ppl to Consulate Docks and the other, having finished "The Time is Nigh," to ferry ppl to Kaineng and/or Lion's Arch from there.

I've always wonder how some people advertise ferrying to LA or Kaineng from Kamadan. Anyone know how they do this repeatedly? Or maybe they're not doing this repeatedly?
